Location
Founded in 1051 and located in the central Veracruz mountain region, in the Pico de Orizaba Valley, the city features three noteworthy industrial parks—Valle de Orizaba, Ojo de Agua and Ixtaczoquitlán—where several multinational corporations have plants. Some of the zone’s main tourist attractions are:
El Palacio de Hierro, a magnificent building, dedicated in 1892.
La Concordia show center, considered the world’s most modern bullring.
Citlaltépetl or Pico de Orizaba mountain, the tallest in Mexico, 5,747 m (18,855 ft) above sea level, and ideally fitted for practicing high-mountain climbing. The mountain features lodging and guide services from the city of Orizaba.
Petlalcala mountain, 3,384 m (11,102 ft) above sea level.
The 500 steps, a tradition in Orizaba.
The main highway is the Mexico City-Puebla-Orizaba-Córdoba-Veracruz toll road.
