Fiesta Inn Mexicali
"Sad, old hotel set in an industrial district"
The Fiesta Inns around Mexico have huge variation in age, facilities, location, and amenities. We have been to some very good ones, but this one is not in that class. Set just a few miles into Mexicali from the border crossing at Calexico, this Fiesta Inn is located on a busy boulevard, surrounded by pavement for parking, with nary a blade of grass for relief. Our room had multiple problems, so we only stayed one night. Begin with a roaring exterior Central AC unit, then loud in-room rattling AC fan, bathroom with no tissues (although the tissue dispenser was left on the counter), a desk chair that was broken, a desk lamp that didn't work... Ah, and a pair of ladies' shoes left in the corner by some previous occupant. No thanks.
"NOT CLEAN, NEEDS MAJOR UPDATE "
Outdated rooms and full of dirt. I kept sneezing due to allergies. Disgusting hotel pretending a nice business hotel. Dust everywhere, sofa in bedroom is disgusting, curtains are dirty and old as hell. Housekeeping just woke me up at 8am. There’s dents and cracks everywhere. The lobby and everything else make it look nice but the rooms are TERRIBLE. Watch out and pick Lucerna or Holiday Inn over this overpriced hell. Also screaming kids running up and down the hall at 7:30am.
Overall it was a good stay. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. The sofa-bed could benefit from a better mattress. There was a security guard around the clock but much more parking is needed. Staff very hospitable and attentive.
Very nice and clean hotel with up-to-date rooms. Very nice and accommodating staff who speak English. My only recommendation is they may want to mount the TV's on the wall instead of on the credenza/desk area.
"I love its matresses"
It is well located. 5min from the border line. 2 blocks away from downtown. There is a cinema complex (Cinepolis) accross the street. Supermarket Soriana also a few meters walking. Good restaurants and cafeterias around. Located on one of the main avenues. Prices are fair. Rooms have good size and the pool is on the back yard, a bit small but acceptable.
